    Winter Skin Care Guide

It’s well known in the beauty industry that as the seasons change, your skincare needs to follow suit.

The cold, icy weather, mixed with the dry central heating can play havoc with your skin, causing it to dry out and feel altogether tighter in the winter.

The good news is that there are steps you can take to keep it in tip top condition.

    Exfoliate

This may seem counter-productive, but making sure you exfoliate once or twice a week is the first step to achieving bright, smooth skin all year round.

Exfoliating will help to get rid of any dead skin cells and leave your skin looking brighter and smoother, while the circular motion and the beads will stimulate blood flow to the surface of the skin and get rid of that tired, sallow tint you may have.

    Use a moisturising base

Moisture is the key to lovely smooth skin in winter.

Even if you have more oily skin, you can still find you get dry patches on your cheeks due to the howling wind and the constant temperature changes.

Once your skin is clean and dry, make sure you apply a good serum that is designed for your skin type, as well as a generous amount of cream to your face and make sure every bit is covered.

It’s also important to not forget the eye area, as these can dry out too during the day.

Don’t go too heavy with the makeup

If your skin is left looking pale and grey, it can be all too tempting to apply a lot of makeup to make you look “more awake”, but this could actually be detrimental to your skin.

You need to let it breathe as much as possible, so instead of reaching for that full coverage foundation, try a BB or CC cream, both of which are packed with hydrating ingredients.

Invest in a hydrating spray mist

If you start to feel your skin gets tight mid-way through the day, investing in a hydrating spray mist can really help to give it a bit of added moisture. Simply spritz it over your face to unleash hydration on the go.

Take makeup off as soon as you can

If you’ve had makeup on all day, as soon as you get in, take it off and let your skin breathe.

Double cleansing is the best way to remove all traces of makeup and grime and ensures you won’t leave traces on the pillow.

In winter its best to look for an oil-based cleanser as these are both gentle and hydrating.

    Pamper yourself

Face masks are great for giving your skin a bit of TLC when it needs it the most. Simply get one that suits your needs, pop it on, and sit back and relax!

Likewise, dermarollers can really help your skin to glow all season to give your skin back its glow by stimulating the collagen and blood flow.
